The department focuses on the research and teaching of vernacular original experimental architecture, trying to integrate contemporary art, humanistic ideas, architecture, especially construction of buildings and revive the complete way of construction that converges nature, city, building and utensil. At the same time, it pays much attention on the vernacular awareness in a context of open international communication. It attaches great importance on the balance of thinking and practice, the co-existence of personality and commonality, the harmony of human and construction. There is a Sustainable Construction lab in the department. It is a five-year program.
