My name is Lim Wee Yap, a fourth-generation member of my family in #Malaysia, born in Johor Bahru at the southernmost part of Eurasia. I am a recent PhD graduate in Art Collection and Research.

I initially studied ceramics at the Jingdezhen Ceramic University, exploring contemporary art. However, immersed in the traditional ceramic-making atmosphere of Jingdezhen City, Jiangxi Province, I developed a strong interest in Chinese #culture. My growing cultural identification led me to study at the China Academy of Art’s School of Crafts, hoping to unveil the mysteries of Chinese traditional #art here.

Here, I had the privilege of meeting my mentor, Professor He Shiyang, who has a profound understanding of art and has answered many of my questions. I also had the opportunity to follow in his footsteps and complete the project "Southern Mural", which laid the foundation for my graduation project on traditional mural wall production and painting.

My work is based on the Seven Sages of the Bamboo Grove during the Wei and Jin Dynasties(AD 220-420), using both scroll painting and mural painting to showcase the demeanor of the Wei and Jin literati, with the hope of experiencing the beauty of Chinese traditional art in the process.

The richness and depth of this artistic heritage continue to captivate me, fueling my strong curiosity and desire for further exploration. I hope to continue on this path after graduation and delve deeper into it!
