I Hear You

We are born with the innate ability to engage in free play with our peers. The visually impaired, on the other hand, need to invest more time, energy, and courage to do the same. In this graduation work, the eyes are replaced by one's ears so that the visually impaired and the non-visually impaired can interact with different games on a level playing field. These games include archery and real-life Counter-Strike. By harnessing AI technology,I Hear Youallows players to locate the bullseye or other players via real-time auditory and sensory feedback and shoot their targets. Multiple stages and an interactive design boost the players' interest in the game while fostering interaction and communication between the visually and non-visually impaired, which in turn makes our society more inclusive.

Reconstructing Memory

The collective cultural memories and identity of villagers living in traditional villages are a key source fueling nostalgia. It is also a repository of important cultural sights of our beautiful villages as well as the DNA housing regional and ethnic cultural memories. In the digital age, a digital divide driven by digital technologies and the environment has obstructed the transmission and preservation of cultural memories in traditional villages, widening the disparity in cultural development in villages and cities. This graduation work offers an ideal solution that seeks to revitalize traditional village culture via digital experiences. Pingshan Village in Anhui Province was chosen as the prototype. The work suggests the growing cultural gap formed in our cultural memories of the village from spatial and temporal perspectives as time passes. It demonstrates a residential environment and a passive entity that is constantly being observed and subject to mechanical, impersonal interpretation. With immersive scenes and interactive elements, the artist recreates the evolution of the village and attempts to call attention to the importance of the cultural memories housed in traditional villages.

Encountering Jade at Liangzhu: A Mixed Experience Design for Archaeological Ruins of Liangzhu City

This work aims to meet the public's need for immersive perceptual experiences. Through the use of digital intelligence, it creatively translates and expresses the jade culture of the Archaeological Ruins of Liangzhu City. It translates the elusive "past lives" of the Liangzhu Ruins into a "China story" that every tourist can mentally comprehend and physically experience. The narrative content is constructed through four chapters: "A Jade Route", "Water and Jade", "The Jade Art", and "Honoring Rituals with Jade". Using tangible symbolic objects such as Liangzhu jade artifacts as interactive mediums, the site of the Liangzhu relics and its cultural connotations are presented in a mixed manner. The aim is to allow the public to explore and perceive the jade culture of Liangzhu through a process of natural interaction (Tangible User Interface, TUI). This will evoke the deepest emotional resonance and a sense of identification among the public, creating a first-hand experience that witnesses the continuity of civilization, fosters a sense of community, and enhances national cultural confidence.

Brain Garden – The 5th Zhijiang International Youth Art Festival 2023 & CAA Graduation Season kicked off online and offline concurrently on June 1. This edition of Youth Art Festival is co-hosted by Zhejiang Federation of Literary and Art Circles, Zhejiang Provincial Department of Education, Zhejiang Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, Publicity Department of the CPC Hangzhou Municipal Committee, China Academy of Art (CAA), and Zhejiang Conservatory of Music under the guidance of the Publicity Department of CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee and Hangzhou Municipal People's Government. The festival features a wide variety of online and offline artistic shows and activities centered on the future and the youth. It is a grand city-wide artistic feast in Hangzhou.

The Youth Art Festival is presented online on CAACOSMOS and West Lake Sky Screen and offline at six venues, namely Zhejiang Exhibition Hall, West Lake Art Museum, Zhejiang Art Museum, World Tourism Museum (1368 Xiangxi Road), Quan Shanshi Art Center, and Yichuang Town, with a total exhibition area of nearly 70,000 square meters. Over 3,000 works from more than 2,500 Class of 2023 graduates (including 1,766 undergraduates, 688 masters, and 97 doctors) are showcased. Over 2,000 young artists, designers, writers, and scholars have gathered online for this youthful art event.
