Return to the Lonely Hill; Find the Place Where Dreams Start
Time: March 16
Location: Lonely Hill; Hangzhou | the site of the National Academy of Art
The National Academy of Art (which later became the China Academy of Art), opened its gates to art seekers on March 16, 90 years ago. The first school photo was taken at the Lonely Hill, signifying the beginning of our university. Our students and teachers returned to the Lonely Hill today to take pictures and videos to show respect to the founders of the university and to also celebrate the spirit of the China Academy of Art.

The publishing Ceremony of “China Academy of Art: A Journey of 90 Years”

Location: Beijing | the National Art Museum of China
The book “China Academy of Art: A Journey of 90 Years” records the history of our university, and it is also the most comprehensive collection of academic literatures on the history of Chinese modern art education. It will be released on Mar 24.

“China•Art•Academy” An Exhibition Celebrating the 90th Anniversary of the China Academy of Art
Opening Ceremony: March 25 at 10 am
Location: Beijing | National Art Museum of China
This exhibition possesses three keywords: China, Art and Academy, which when combined, show the name of our university: “the China Academy of Art”. It aims to show a pioneering journey of Chinese Art, the core site of Art Education and Manifesto of Academic Ethos.

A Roundtable on 21st Century Art Education
Time: March 26 – 27
Location: Beijing | National Art Museum of China
The university invites artists, philosophers, curators and educators from all over the world to discuss art education at a roundtable. These scholars will discuss current practices in art education by deliberating the most recent art and education developments. How can creativity in global art be defined – a political culture syndrome? How can the future be spoken about when considering the confusion of contemporary art and knowledge production?

Asian Bamboo Art Exhibition
Time: April 7 at 11 am
Location: Hangzhou | Xiangshan Campus | Crafts Museum
This exhibition will display hundreds artworks made of bamboo. These pieces were created by more than 30 artists, designers, architects and bamboo craftsmen from China, Japan, India and other Asian countries or regions.

The Reform and Opening Policies and Me, In the Past 40 Years – Alumni Conversations

The year of 2018 is the 40th year of the Reform and Open policies. This event gives our alumni from that era a chance to shine. Some of them have now become the core power pushing the development of art and education in China.

“Wishes for 2028” Special Exhibition

Location: Hangzhou | Nanshan Campus | Museum of Contemporary Art of CAA
“Wishes for 2028” is a special exhibition, inviting young science fiction writers and our students to create and build a situation of hyperspace dialogue together. It is a good chance for students to connect to both the future and past of art and our university.

CAA’s 90th Birthday Celebration

In 1928, the China Academy of Art, formerly known as the National Academy of Art, was founded by the renowned educator and scholar, Cai Yuanpei besides the West Lake in Hangzhou. This year is the 90th anniversary of our university.

Opening Ceremony of a Series of Exhibitions in the China Design Museum
Time: April 8
Location: Hangzhou | Xiangshan Campus | China Design Museum
The China Design Museum is designed by Mr. Alvaro Siza, winner of the 1992 Pritzker Architecture Prize. On the day, there will be four interesting exhibitions open to the public: "Life world – collection of western modern design in the 20th century", "Subversion and reshape -- collection of Menswear designed by Massimo Osti", "Migrating Bauhaus - design life exhibition" and "Beyond the building – the famous Portuguese architect Alvaro Siza architecture and design exhibition".

Cornerstone Laying Ceremony for the Liangzhu Campus of CAA
Time: April 8 at 3pm
Location: Hangzhou | Yuhang District | Liangzhu
Liangzhu Campus is the newest campus, which aims to open in November 2020. The new campus will include the School of Design, School of Art Administration and Education, School of Continuing Education, Design Industry Innovation Center and the China Research Institute for Culture and Design. It is designed to hold about 4000 students.

“The Night of CAA” Evening Party

The Night of CAA is a big party for all the students, staff and guests. We have prepared many brilliant performances including singing and dancing, poetry recitation, choirs and media performances.

Crisis & Potential – the Presidents of the International Art College Forum
Time: April 9 at 9 am
Location: Hangzhou | Xiangshan Campus
The forum invites the presidents of 60 international art colleges from all over the world and the presidents of a2ru, International Council of Fine Arts Deans and AICAD. It will include three speeches in the morning and four thematic discussions in the afternoon.
