Programme Overview
The Product Design Programme is guided by humanistic intelligence and responds to the transformation of contemporary lifestyles and the evolving needs of future industries, committed to cultivating cross-disciplinary design innovators and future leaders. Integrating art and technology, and linking teaching with industry, the programme combines design aesthetics, digital interaction, and user research with engineering and commercial application. Through creative practice in areas such as everyday products, home appliances, tourism and leisure, and cultural and creative industries, students are encouraged to conduct research and design in real-world contexts, developing systematic capabilities from problem identification and concept generation to integrated implementation. The programme aims to nurture design talents with a strong sense of social responsibility, sound design judgement, and innovative leadership, enabling them to achieve sustainable development in fields of product innovation, interaction experience, service systems, and related creative industries, while responding to real-world issues through design to promote positive innovation in society, culture, and industry.
Curriculum Overview
·Curriculum Structure
The curriculum is closely aligned with the program's educational objectives and organized around a "Program + Research Institute" matrix that connects knowledge acquisition with practical engagement. In the first year, students receive foundational training in art, design, and basic theory through a future-oriented, open, and diverse pedagogical approach, featuring project-based and group-based learning. In the second year, students build their professional foundation through six knowledge areas: Innovative Thinking, Form and Expression, Material and Structural Making, Production and Supply Chain, Business and Organizational Systems, and Human Factors and Standards. In the third year, students enter specialised modules, developing multi-level knowledge through three stages of professional design—perception, participation, and integration—and two phases of practice-based courses. The fourth year implements a supervisor-led thesis and graduation project. Teaching is deeply integrated with industry-academia collaborative workshops and international joint programs, creating a tightly interconnected ecosystem that connects education, research, industry, and application—ensuring the seamless integration of theoretical study, technical rigor, and creative realization.
