Gold Award: Deer Singing Among Ancient Cypresses from School of Chinese Painting
Fan Chujie, a graduate specializing in Flower-and-Bird Painting at CAA’s School of Chinese painting, won a gold medal for her work “Deer Singing Among Ancient Cypresses”. The painting draws inspiration from four ancient cypress trees in the Situ Temple in Suzhou. Between 2023 and 2024, Fan visited Situ Temple multiple times to sketch and draw inspiration. Li Jialin is a graduate student specializing in figure painting at the School of Chinese Painting at the China Academy of Art. His graduation work, “Isaren”, was inspired by photographer Mr. Gu Deqing’s book “Diary of a Hunting People’s Life”, which documents the lives of the Oroqen and Evenk, among other ethnic minorities in Northeast China.
