The 5th China Design Intelligence Award
The 5th Design Intelligence Award Evaluation and Ceremony was held from Oct 14 to 20 at CAA Xiangshan campus in Hangzhou. This year's DIA has received 7,369 entries from around the world and has developed into one of the largest Chinese industrial design competitions. “Beyond The Visible: Eugen Popa and Chinese Contemporary Painting” Is Being Held at CAA Art Museum
An exhibition entitled“Beyond the visible: Eugen Popa and Chinese Contemporary Painting” is being held at CAA Art Museum in Hangzhou near Westlake. The exhibition showcases 134 artworks by Eugen Popa and his wife Gina Hagiu. From 1960 to 1962, the couple was invited by China’s Ministry of Culture to teach a Romanian oil painting class at the Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts (now CAA). 43 artworks by students in the class are on display at the exhibition. The Zhang Yangxi Artworks Exhibition Opens in CAA Art Museum
The Zhang Yangxi Artworks exhibition is being held in CAA Art Museum, showcasing over 200 works including printmakings, watercolors, Chinese ink paintings, and manuscripts. Zhang Yangxi was a famous artist and pioneering educator in the teaching of printmaking. His family members donated nearly 300 of Zhang’s artworks to CAA Art Museum in 2015 and 50 of his woodblock prints in 2019. The exhibition will run until Oct 28.

CAA Opening Ceremony 2020
An opening ceremony for students from the class of 2020 was held on Sept25. Over 2,600 students, including many from overseas attended the ceremony to welcome the start of their college life. The chairman of the Academy Affairs Committee, Jin Yibin, gave each student a writing brush, ink stick, ink stone, and paper as gifts at the ceremony. Exhibition Celebrates New Year Prints Through The Ages

Exhibition of Traditional Chinese Tao Huawu & Yang Liuqing New Year Pictures Opens Recently
An exhibition of traditional Chinese Tao Huawu & Yang Liuqing New Year pictures opens at the CAA Crafts Museum today and will run until Dec 30. Tao Huawu and Yang Liuqing New Year pictures represent wood-block print in south and north China respectively. Works on display were made in the traditional style and were produced during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1912) and the first half of the twentieth century.

VR Section of The 77th Venice Int'l Film Festival Open
The VR section of the 77th Venice Int'l Film Festival had an opening ceremony at China Academy of Art Art Museum on Aug 31. Forty-four top international VR films will be shown at the museum from Sept 2 to 12, providing visitors with an immersive theater experience and VR games. Please Check Your Admission Letters from CAA!
Admission letters from the China Academy of Art (CAA) began being delivered on Aug 20! This year's admission dispatches are designed in the style of an old letter. The undergraduate admission letter is red, representing enthusiasm and energy; the master's letter is silver for intelligence and creativity; and the doctoral admission letter is gold, representing tradition and brilliance. The cover reads ‘Fight for Art,’ with the words written by CAA’s first president Lin Fengmian.
