CAA Australian Alumni Association is established!
The founding ceremony of China Academy of Art Australian Alumni Association was held at HSBC Building in Sydney on May 5. Over a hundred alumni and guests from Tasmania, Perth, Melbourne and other cities of Australia attended the ceremony.

The first CAA Design Week, entitled “The Voice of Society”will open
The first CAA Design Week, entitled “The Voice of Society”, an important part of Zhijiang International Youth Art Festival, will open at Xiangshan Art Commune from May 24 to June 10. It includes graduation exhibition of the school of design, design dialogues, fashion of the year and cross border joint graduation design exhibition between art and science & technology. Summer begins!
“Start of Summer” (Chinese: 立夏), the 7th solar term of the year, begins on May 6 and ends on May 21 this year. Eggs are traditionally eaten in China during this time. Students at CAA designed several posters to celebrate the term. Click on the photos to see what they look like!

An exhibition of the work of Sun Qingyi is on show at CAA's Shanghai Campus
An exhibition of the work of Sun Qingyi, called “Decorative Landscape Painting”, is on show at CAA’s Shanghai campus, and will last until May 5. Prof. Sun is fond of the mountains and rivers in East China. He expresses his emotions and feelings from the heart throughout a simple and straightforward drawing style.

Hands-the most important tools for CAA students
Hands are the most important tools for CAA students to create their works in different forms of art. They use hands to put their thoughts and understandings into their creations, and follow the motto "work on hands and read by heart" and the “Erudite Craftsmen” spirit advocated by CAA.

CAA student’s work has been awarded prize in Milan
CAA attended Lineapelle, an international exhibition of leather, accessories, components, fabrics, synthetics and models, in Milan, Italy, in March. The Special Prize of the Jury Panel has been awarded to Xi Zheyu, an excellent student in our university, for her collection “Shuowen – Zaowu”.

Today is World Book and Copyright Day. Are you reading some good books at the moment? If not, we’d like to introduce you an album of CAA’s President Xu Jiang’s works, “A Tribute to Sunflowers”. An Exhibition of Boxwood Carving is held at CAA Crafts Museum
Anyone interested in the art of carving should head down to CAA’s Crafts Museum, where a fascinating new exhibition is set to open today. Over 300 delicately-made boxwood carvings are on display, with all of the carvings produced by artists in Yueqing, Zhejiang province over the past 100 years. Boxwood carving was listed as a national intangible cultural heritage in 2006. The exhibition closes on June 12.

Bamboo Weaving Workshop is at Crafts Museum
Bamboo always appears in Chinese paintings and traditional crafts because it has always been seen as an emblem of integrity in China. The 7th activity of the Crafts Museum of CAA taught attendees the process of bamboo weaving. Follow the video to find out how they did!
