Cui studied computer application at the State Key Lab of CAD&CG and was conferred with a doctoral degree in engineering in June 2005. 

She is also the Member of the Expert Advisory Committee of the Online Game Research Institute, the Member of Digital Cultural Heritage Technical Committee of the China Society of Image and Graphics, Member of HMI Technical Committee of the Zhejiang Computer Federation, and Judge of the China University Student Computer Design Competition.
