Feng was born in September 1977. He was educated at the College of Fine Arts of Jiangxi Normal University in the province where his family came from --- Jiangxi Province. He was enrolled in 1995 and graduated in 1999 with a bachelor's degree. In the same year, he was admitted to the same college as a postgraduate student majoring in oil painting. Three years later, he was conferred with the degree of Master of Arts and continued to work as a teacher in the college. Later, he entered the Department of Art History at CAA in 2008 and graduated with a doctor's degree in 2011. After that, he was assigned to teach in the Department of Oil Painting at CAA in 2014 and completed the Quan Shanshi Advanced Training Program of Oil Painting in 2017.
