Li Qing was born in Huzhou, Zhejiang Province in 1981 and currently lives and works in Hangzhou. His paintings, installations, and audiovisual works tend to seek rational cracks between similarities and contradictions and act on viewers' feelings and cognition through circuitous and overlapping structures. He has shifted his painting practices away from contents within a frame and now works on expanding the external space and way of viewing paintings. His uninterrupted painting experiments of several series originated from the topics that he has been interested in since 2005, such as the information and images in the tech age, the social mechanism and power of viewing, the relationship between people and architecture and cities amidst globalization, the aesthetic style and discipline in consumption age, from which he creates new narrative interfaces and expressive languages with conflictual structures. His capture of micropolitics in everyday space and images and analysis of ideologies in aesthetic traditions show a unique sense of history in his creations.
