Prof. Ren was admitted to the Affiliated High School of CAA at the age of 15 and admitted to the Department of Oil Painting of CAA without requiring entrance examinations at the age of 19. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in 1995 and obtained the first master's degree in Fine Arts granted by the Ministry of Education in 2008. Several years later, he attended the Quan Shanshi Oil Painting Advanced Innovation Class for further study in 2015 and the National Thematic Art Creation Research Class of the Ministry of Culture in 2017 to join in the study and practice of national major thematic art creation.
