From 1983 to 1990, he studied at the middle school of Hangzhou Senior High School and the Affiliated High School to China Academy of Art, after which he was recommended to the Chinese Painting Department of Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts, and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in 1994. Afterwards, he obtained a master’s degree and taught in the Chinese Painting Department at CAA. In 2006, he obtained a doctor’s degree in the Chinese Painting Department at CAA.

He has been engaged in the teaching and research of freehand figure painting for a long time, and is a disciple of Mr. Liu Guohui.
