Yu Hong was born in January 1974 in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. He obtained his BA from the Department of Printmaking, China Academy of Art (CAA) in 1997. In 2001, he completed his MA at the Department of Printmaking, CAA. In 2007, he earned his PhD from the inaugural doctoral program of "Painting Creation Methodology" at CAA. From 2012 to 2013, he served as a visiting scholar at the HFBK University of Fine Arts Hamburg in Germany. Currently, he holds the positions of Director, Professor, and Master's Advisor at the Department of Printmaking, School of Painting, CAA. He is also Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of the Zhejiang Provincial Printmaker Association and a member of the China Artists Association.
