Zhao was born in 1975. In September 1995, he was enrolled in the pilot class of New Forms and Expressions of Painting in the Department of Oil Painting, School of Painting at CAA. He became an instructor of CAA after receiving his Master’s Degree in June 2002. Two years later, Zhao succeeded in the thesis defense of his Doctor's degree and was conferred with a PhD Degree.
