I am Bhanu from India and I'm a PhD graduate in Department of Oil Painting, School of Painting.
To begin, I would want to express how grateful I am to be a part of such an outstanding organization as China Academy of Art. It stretches from the shores of West Lake to a gorgeous campus located close to Zhuantang. In spite of the pandemic that has been going on for the last three years, this year's exhibit symbolizes the blossoming of fresh life brought about by graduating students as they start a new chapter in their lives. It is my opinion that the Brain Garden motif alludes to a realm of dreams in which everything functions without difficulty, there is no strife or pain, all things coexist peacefully, and individuals enjoy complete liberty and happiness. My belief is that the China Academy of Art is a fertile ground for creative thought, where students are free to generate whatever concept that comes to their minds. Participating in lessons at an art school is not the same as taking a leisurely walk around a garden. Instead, it leads you on a path of discovery via the natural world and the process of blossoming into beauty. As a part of its curriculum, the CAA Youth Art Festival puts on display the work of some of the most gifted young CAA artists in the city each and every year. In order to accomplish this goal, creative works should be based in the actual world and demonstrate an understanding of human nature in the service of society's best interests.
As for my graduation works, the mountains, rivers, landscapes, and the regeneration within nature inspire me. I try to map them out with surreal diagrammatic representations of urban lands with highlighted details such as cities, roads and divisions or boundaries in utopian planning. My works illustrate the tragedy of the human tendency to contention and division. I see my works as an amalgamation of the finest characters of natural expansive landscapes coexisting with manmade cityscapes and unsustainable modifications, the invisible dystopias coexisting within conceptualized utopian structures. My work recites the engagement with our surroundings and possible consequences our actions have upon the world we live. In my works the concept of decay comes from the human process of development and nature balancing it as the process of regeneration. In my mixed media works, a proportional variation distorts the perspective and heighten the act of looking through it, whereas the material used has a very symbolic meaning showing details of topographic variations, rivers and lands. My work tries to reveal the dichotomy between what we desire and what we manifest.
The CAA has everything necessary to grow, nourish, and encourage the creative minds of young people. When one enrolls at an art institution, they may anticipate a number of things, including the beautiful landscape that surrounds the China Academy of Art, an outstanding academic staff, and a lovely artistic environment that is packed together with the region's rich history and culture. Each society has a need for its artists, and artists often work to transform their societies. Painting is an age-old practice that is always evolving, and the CAA is an ideal place to participate in this evolution and become a part of its continuing renewal. The Department of Oil Painting at CAA is open to the many practices and possibilities of modern painting. The themes of content, meaning, and context are progressively explored after an initial concentration on pertinent skills and methods in painting and kindred media. The emphasis is initially on these areas. In the framework of developing and broadening art practices, there is a strong emphasis placed on the painting discipline in all of its expressions. The study of painting's distinct history and tradition serves as the basis for the course, which also emphasizes the importance of creative interpretation, invention, and experimentation. Painting is one of the many areas of study offered at CAA, and students may use this experience as a springboard to develop an own artistic practice that caters to their specific passions and skills.
