Hello! I’m Maria from Bangladesh. From a young age, I have had a profound passion for art. Although I have not received formal art training, I was very fortunate to be able to study at the China Academy of Art, which marked the beginning of my artistic journey. Starting from scratch to now becoming a graduate in sculpture, this journey has been filled with challenges and achievements, making me immensely proud.
My graduation project series, "Celebrating Femininity," deeply integrates the traditional customs of my hometown with the theme of women. The first piece, "Posh," uses the form of paper to represent the fragility of women, but the actual material used is stainless steel, symbolizing the inner resilience and strength of women. The second piece, "Shakti," further explores the power and determination of women. In this work, a water jar is placed on the woman's head and waist, symbolizing the hard work and selfless dedication of countless women in their daily lives. The third piece, "Mother," depicts the veins and blood cells of women, representing the source and beginning of new life. Finally, in the piece "Woman in Me," all the characteristics mentioned above are presented through diverse patterns, synthesizing the qualities of the previous works. This series uses intricate artistic language to explore the roles and strengths of women on different levels, encompassing both external forms and inner spiritual essence.
In the future, I hope to continue studying in China, exploring various cultural elements to enrich my creative techniques and artistic expressions.
