The China Academy of Art (CAA) has launched its highly anticipated 2025 Graduation Season, titled Metamorphoses, running from 31 May to 20 June across seven major venues in Hangzhou. More than 2,971 graduates are presenting over 3,000 works, spanning disciplines from visual arts to design, fashion, and media. Venues include CAA’s Xiangshan, Liangzhu, and Nanshan campuses, as well as the Zhejiang Art Museum, World Tourism Museum, and more.
Rooted in the ancient Chinese concept of the seventy-two pentads, Metamorphoses celebrates change as a guiding creative force. The season opened with a poetic, rain-drenched performance and immersive fashion runway featuring 158 graduate collections, exploring identity, tradition, and digital hybridity. A central four-sided stage installation will continue to evolve throughout the exhibition, projecting students’ thesis work and lived experiences at CAA.
As the largest and most influential graduation event of its kind in China, Metamorphoses reflects CAA’s mission to be an “Unwalled Academy”—where education, art, and public life merge. It invites the city to witness a new generation of artists shaping the future through vision, experimentation, and transformation.
Exhibition runs until: 20 June 2025
