From October 17 to 30,2025, the 8th International Intermedia Art Festival “Electrified Kids” opened at the Tank Shanghai’s UFO Terminal on the West Bund. Initiated by the School of Intermedia Art, the exhibition features over a hundred cutting-edge works by nearly 200 artists from 12 countries, spanning AI, VR/MR, generative, video, installation, and performance art, probing how technology reshapes human perception.
The theme, inspired by the sci-fi film "Wonder Boy", reflects our contemporary entanglement with technology. The exhibition is grouped into seven sections and delves into issues including algorithmic fairness, data privacy, human-computer relations, digital ethics, computing infrastructure, and the geography, labor, and environment behind computational power. We have all become the "electrified generation", and we are here to imagine a future where technology life, and energy coexist.
The festival also engages with international organizations such as the Ars Electronica Festival and invites leading scholars from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, University College London, and other universities to discuss the future in the two concurrent forums.
Through this festival, the Academy has further expanded its international network of collaboration. These substantive partnerships lay a solid foundation for future joint research, faculty and student exchanges, and co-developed curricula, effectively advancing the internationalization of intermedia art education and enhancing the quality of talent cultivation—demonstrating the China Academy of Art’s academic strength and creative vitality in the intersection of art and technology.
On view through October 30, 2025.
