
Formal Opening of the China Design Museum- China’s First Museum with Collections of Original Western Modern Design Works during the 90th Anniversary Celebration of the China Academy of Art will be held on April 8 in Xiangshan Campus.
Five exhibitions and one show will be on at that time:

Life World: The Collection of Western Modern Design (Permanent Exhibition)
As a permanent exhibition, the exhibits are mainly from western modern design collection with Bauhaus exhibits of China Design Museum, and the exhibits are selected from a series of representative works since mid-19th century, which shows 150-year western modern design history.

Massimo Osti is an Italian Clothes Designer. The exhibits include classical works of important brands created by Massimo Osti such as CP, Stone Island and vintage works collected by Massimo Osti.

Bauhaus Imaginista:Moving Away
Bauhaus Imaginista is a grand international research and exhibition project for commemoration of 100th anniversary of Bauhaus.
“Bauhaus Imaginista:Moving Away” will exhibit objects, commercial prototype, advertisement design, architecture, urban planning and relevant theoretical literatures.
The exhibition aims to research on adjustments, developments, and redesign of Bauhaus concept by designers and architects from different cultures and political backgrounds to unveil changes of Bauhaus concept since 20th century until today in the Soviet Union, India and China.

Alvaro Siza – Beyond Architecture
The China Design Museum is designed by álvaro Siza, the famous Portuguese architect who won the Pritzker Architecture Prize in 1992. The exhibition-Beyond Architecture is co-planned by the China Design Museum and Carlos Castanheira, the long-term partner of álvaro Siza. It exhibits major woks of álvaro Siza created from 1960s to 2010s including architecture, sculpture, appliances, and industrial products.

The Document Exhibition of architecture design of China Design Museum
The China Design Museum was constructed for 6 years. The exhibition showcases the whole construction process from schemes to completion including architectural models, drawings, documents, photos of construction site and relevant videos.

Xiang Peng- Figural Space Cabinet of Bauhaus
As one of public education activities of China Design Museum, the show originates from the workshop “Figural Space Cabinet – Bauhaus Dance Again” held in December 2017. The research-based show reviews Bauhaus historical stage experiment and poetic drama set to music, flourishing in the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368)and probes into possibility of a dialogue between the two.
