As previously introduced, the China Design Museum with 6-year preparation and construction will officially open during the 90th anniversary celebration on April 8, 2018. To ensure the best outcome, Xu Jiang, the president of CAA invited the 80-year-old famous Portuguese national treasure architect - ÁlvaroSiza - to design the museum.

The architectural works of ÁlvaroSiza are famous for its concise space while complex geometric structure. So, the construction is quite difficult. He even requires that the surface of interior marble should be linear-joint.

On the choice of material for facade of the buildings, normally ÁlvaroSiza typically uses a white stone. This time however, he insisted on using red sandstone for the China Design Museum. Thanks to his insistence, we can now see how the fantastic museum glows in the sun.
