The School of Painting focuses on ‘method and technique’ – constantly examining its methodologies in the ‘post-print’ era and the rising importance of mural painting and public art. The roots of the School lie in the historical legacy of China itself. From this rich heritage, the curriculum leads students to discover new and constantly evolving approaches to painting and printmaking with an awareness of mediated imagery, multi-media and extended forms of these media. As students explore contemporary methodologies, they are encouraged in expanding their own innate characteristics.
The School explores new methods of conceptual innovation and encourages development of international perspective and creative awareness. The School’s formal specializations of Oil Painting, Printmaking, Mural Painting and Integrated Painting, explore emerging perspectives in the global art world that provide students with the skills and research methods needed to provide new value to society.
